Description: Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research post
(from 1st September 2008 for 12 months with the possibility of extension up
to 36 months) to work in the area of Intelligent Agents and Synthetic
Characters. The aim is to investigate mechanisms that support dynamic models
for agents that take into account aspects such as memory, reasoning, social
relations and emotions. The research is funded by the EU Funded project
LIREC, in the area of Cognitive Systems and Robotics. The LIREC project aims
at establishing the scientific basis for developing artificial companions
that users will want to interact with over a long term period in their own
social settings. Applicants should have a good background in Artificial
Intelligence and Intelligent Agents research, software design and
implementation, together with the willingness to take on the challenge of
relating cognitive and social psychology to the creation of intelligent
behaviour in agents.
