The RMIT Intelligent Agents group has a vacancy for an 18 month
postdoc (Research Fellow) position on a grant funded project in
collaboration with an industry partner.

The overarching project involves the creation of an intelligent
children's Toy, that will interact via voice, be personalised to its
child owner, and grow with the child. This particular sub-project
concerns architectures, methodology and support for developing 3rd
party plug-in modules for the Toy. These should be able to be
integrated at differing levels of complexity, depending on how much of
both the plug-in module and the Toy core are exposed. Research issues
involve architectural design of plug-ins and tool/methodological
support for their development. Plug-ins should be as loosely coupled
as possible, but must nevertheless integrate quite tightly with the
core, in terms of being able to flexibly interleave different plug-ins
in a coherent manner as the Toy interacts with its user.

The Toy uses a BDI intelligent agent programming paradigm. Hence, an
understanding of BDI agents, or the ability to quickly learn the
concepts is necessary. Strong software engineering skills and good
team work are also essential to this role. Understanding of dialogue
systems is also useful. Immediate start is desired.

Pay scale is $70,857-$83,068 per annum (A6-B2) depending on
qualifications and experience. Please contact Lin Padgham

of interest.
