                         CALL FOR PAPERS
Workshop on New Research Frontiers for Intelligent Autonomous Systems
                            (NRF-IAS)
                 Venice (Italy), July 18-19, 2014
                http://www.ias-13.org/nrf-ias-2014/

The NRF-IAS workshop celebrates the 20-years anniversary of the
International Society for Intelligent Autonomous Systems (IAS-Society),
established in July 1994. The workshop will run as a Post-Conference
meeting in Venice, from July 18 evening, immediately following the
13th IAS Conference held in Padua, to give the opportunity to discuss
the future of the intelligent autonomous systems research field.

Starting on the evening of July 18, with an automatic piano concert,
at Benedetto Marcello Conservatory inside Palazzo Pisani, the Workshop
will take place on July 19 at the Telecom Future Center, in the core of
Venice, close to Rialto, and will include a full day of invited talks,
contributed presentations and posters, and will end with a social dinner
on a private boat in the San Mark basin to watch from the lagoon the
public fireworks for the Feast of the Redeemer. This is the most important
historical Venetian feast, dating back to 1577, to give thanks for the
end of a terrible plague. It is celebrated with an exceptional display
of fireworks that people watch from thousands of boats.

SUBMISSIONS
=====================================================

Contributions are solicited in the form of
* position papers that should present exciting and visionary ideas to
galvanize the research community and spur novel research directions.
A position paper must present an arguable opinion about an issue. The
goal of a position paper is to convince the audience of the validity
of the opinion expressed, without the need to present complete research
work and/or validated results. It is important to support the argument
with evidence to ensure the validity of the claims. The position paper
may be a short report and discussion of novel ideas, facts, situations,
methods, procedures or results of scientific research (bibliographic,
experimental, theoretical, or other) focused on one of the topics of
IAS-13 Conference. The position papers will be presented as lightning
  talks of 3-5 minutes.
* short surveys on a specific aspect of intelligent autonomous systems. Of
special interests are surveys that summarize the major contributions to
a key topic in intelligent autonomous systems, outlining the main ideas,
major results obtained, milestone papers, and open issues. Surveys that
outline connections with other areas of research are also welcome. A
survey paper should focus on a single topic, which can be broad (e.g.,
Ambient Intelligence), or narrow (e.g., multi-robot SLAM using only
range and bearings).  The surveys will be presented as posters.

Positions papers (6-10 pages) and survey papers (10-12 pages) should
be prepared following the guidelines at
http://www.ias-13.org/nrf-ias-2014-submission/
and submitted through the EasyChair portal.

All accepted papers and posters will be included in the Workshop
Proceedings with an ISBN number, distributed on-site through CD-ROM or
USB Key. After the Venice meeting, a Special Issue of a peer-reviewed
international journal, celebrating the 20th anniversary of IAS-Society,
will be published. Authors of the best presentations and posters, and
the invited speakers, will be solicited to submit an extended version
of their contribution. All the submissions will be peer reviewed.
