Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite submissions to the International Workshop on GenAI
and Software Engineering (GEN-SE 2026), organized with the 2026
International Conference on Next Generation AI Systems (NGEN-AI 2026),
taking place on 1–4 September 2026 at the University of Trento, Italy, and
online over Zoom.

GEN-SE 2026 focuses on the growing relationship between generative AI and
software engineering. The workshop welcomes work on using generative AI,
large language models, and agentic AI to support software engineering and
coding activities, as well as work on software engineering methods, tools,
architectures, and practices for building reliable, maintainable, secure,
and trustworthy generative and agentic AI systems.

The workshop aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, tool
builders, and industry experts working on both directions of this
relationship: Generative AI for Software Engineering and Software
Engineering for Generative AI Systems.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Generative AI and LLMs for code generation and code completion
AI-assisted software design, architecture, and modelling
Generative AI for requirements engineering and software specification
AI-assisted testing, test generation, debugging, and fault localization
LLM-based code review, refactoring, and software maintenance
AI agents for software engineering tasks and development workflows
Human-AI collaboration in programming and software teams
Empirical studies of AI coding assistants and developer productivity
Quality, reliability, correctness, and evaluation of AI-generated code
Security, privacy, and vulnerabilities in AI-generated software
Software engineering for LLM-based, generative, and agentic AI systems
Architectures and patterns for generative AI-enabled software systems
MLOps, LLMOps, DevOps, and lifecycle management for GenAI systems
Monitoring, testing, validation, and maintenance of GenAI applications
Trustworthiness, explainability, accountability, and governance of GenAI
systems
Benchmarks, datasets, tools, and reproducibility for GenAI and software
engineering

GEN-SE welcomes full research papers, short papers, position papers,
experience reports, industrial case studies, tool demonstrations, dataset
papers, benchmark papers, and lessons learned from real-world deployments.
Submissions should clearly describe the problem being addressed, the
proposed method, tool, framework, dataset, empirical study, or experience
report, and the contribution to software engineering research and practice.

Accepted papers will be published in the NGEN-AI 2026 main conference
proceedings in the Springer CCIS series, indexed in leading databases
including SCOPUS, DBLP, EI Compendex, INSPEC, SCImago, zbMATH, and others.

Important dates:
Paper submission: August 1st, 2026
Author notification: August 12th, 2026
Camera-ready submission: August 20th, 2026
Conference and workshop: 1–4 September 2026
